Paris Region intends to be an attractive region with an international orientation: it therefore makes modern language teaching a priority, and wants to help each young person to find the schools offering the language instruction best designed for them.
The Guide to International Education in Paris Region is aimed at all parents planning to settle and/or school their child or children in Paris Region.
This guide was developed to make the language teaching options offered by the educational system more accessible, and to enable the parents that so wish to contact the schools whose training course best meet their children’s needs, in order to get further information. The guide therefore allows to:
Find nursery schools, primary schools, lower- and upper-secondary schools that offer the language curriculum you want for your children (generally aged 2-18, according to the situation). For each school, the guide provides a factsheet allowing you to establish initial contact. The information given doesn’t warrant the child’s assignment to the chosen school in any way.
Gain insight on the French educational provision, notably for languages: by refining their search based on their children’s needs, the users will have access to an educational offer meeting their specific requirements. requirements.
The primary teaching language of most of the schools displayed in this guide is French. Parents can opt for a state school or state-licensed private school where French is the main teaching language, but where intensive education is also provided in another language (international sections, binational sections). They can also opt for the European School in Courbevoie where the main teaching language is English (in the English section) or for some Paris Region privately-funded schools that are under no agreement with the Ministry of National Education but are accredited by international organisations using internationally-agreed standards and recognized by several ministries, departments of education and universities around the world (CIS, COBIS, BSO). These private schools are called “hors contrat” and may provide most of their classes in another language than French and train their students for international or Anglophone certifications (IB, A-Level). To find a school adjusted to their wishes, the users are as well invited to contact the Embassy or the Cultural Institute of the country concerned.
This guide is intended to supplement the other tools developed by the players of the educational system in Paris Region. Our partnership with the Ministry of National Education through the three Academies of the region (Créteil, Paris, Versailles) ensures the reliability and accuracy of the information displayed for state schools and state-licensed private schools.
Based on the regional plan « Reinforcing International Attractiveness in Paris Region », a single- access point has been created to simplify procedures for arriving families.
